After the installation of Microsoft's April, 2009 updates for Server 2008, all of my Server 2008 systems can no longer connect to my central Systemhound server.  Are others seeing the same behavior?  All of my desktop and Server 2003 systems connect as usual.

I wonder if the systemhound service needs re-starting on the clients.

Restarting the systemhound scheduler service made no difference.

When I run "shrefresh" manually, the connection is made to the central server, the "upload.dll" and "avplugin.dll" lines appear in the command window and then it hangs.  The process continues to use 50% of the CPU and its memory footprint continues to grow.  Eventually, Server 2008 reports that the application has stopped working.

What is the correct client version to be used with Server 2008?

Hi, I'll will attempt to replicate in the office however looking at Microsoft release I do not see anything which I would identify as a cause: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS09-Apr.mspx

Is there any entries within your windows event log to indicate an issue such as Windows blocking the TCP/IP traffic?

svb,

We have a 64bit version of avplugin which may fix the problem.

Please can you send your email address to support@systemhound.com

Thanks,

Hi Steve,

the current version of avplugin.dll in 5.2 can go into a loop which is what is happening. This is fixed in the 64bit version which is part of systemhound 2009 so please deploy the attached copy (avplugin.dll  only) onto your server replacing all avplugin.dll under systemhound\release\*\Plugins where * is all the operating systems that you use.
(this is the same dll as we sent yesterday).
Once you put it on the server and run database refresh from the console, it should automatically be downloaded to the clients within 24 hours.
