Detection of MS ISA, Exchange, and SQL
«

We have quite a few machines that have the administration tools for Microsoft ISA, Exchange, and SQL installed. When viewing the master software report it appears that these installations are showing up as full installs of the respective products. Is there a way to filter out the admin tool installs so that the software report shows an accurate count of the full product at a glance?
Thanks!

Hi There
How is hound detecting this i.e via add/remove programs, registry etc
To find this out if you search for the app in question ( in the systemhound report ) click the app name, now this will show which machines have got it installed.
At the bottom of the screen you should see a line saying
1 location has been used to identify this software as being installed. if you click the + symbol it will show you were systemhound has detected this software.
if you can let us know we can try and help resolve this.

It's detecting via Add/Remove Programs.
Thanks!

Hi There
Unfortunatly we don't support logic like "if this but not this" for software detection so if a product is listed in add/remove programs we report it regardless of whether only the 'tools' part is installed. This is down to the install of the product and how it registers itself with windows.
A better way to detect sql server might be to look at the services running which is also reported within the same systemhound report.
